ABSTRACT: The customer's perception of the quality of the motor vehicle is directly related to several factors. Among them we have the directional tendency of the vehicle, associated with the Torque Vehicle Residual Alignment (VRAT), perceived by the customer when: the vehicle constantly "pulls" to one side on a straight, flat road while keeping the constant speed. This problem is directly related to factors such as Camber, Caster and Toe, among others. These factors, in turn, are geometric characteristics defined in the project and directly influenced by the dimensional variation resulting from the manufacture and assembly of body parts, suspension and tires used. In order to define the tolerance of parts and assemblies to optimize wheel alignment characteristics, determine which significant characteristics should be taken into account in the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) on Design and evaluate the impact of variation dimension in the quality indicators related to directional dynamics of the vehicle, a computational model was developed capable of predicting the VRAT of a compact passenger vehicle with MacPherson strut front and Twist rear suspension beam. The proposed method uses the VisVSA to validate some factors that influence in the final result, the MSC.ADAMS Chassis to simulate a database that serves as input to ModeFrontier to develop a polynomial response surface and simulate the distribution curve for VRAT of the vehicle under study, making it possible to evaluate the directional trend results and the influence of each of the factors on the result. The method reduces simulation time by approximately 800 times when compared to conventional simulation in MSC.ADAMS Chassis software.pt_BR
