Abstract: This work aimed to evaluate the perception of risk in exposure to falls from heights of civil
construction workers, among the Collective Protection Equipment (CPEs): floor-to-floor net
and guardrail, in two different residential jobs in the city of Salvador, Bahia. Digital
questionnaires were applied through the Google Forms platform to survey risk perceptions
among EPCs in this 2 residential jobs . For the main active workers in this field, working directly
with this equipments, the main topics covered were: feeling of security, exposure to the risk of
falling, misapplication on installation and comfort of the materials. As for the general workers
in construction, that do not work directly with this equipments different questions were asked,
such as: crucial criteria to define the system, need for maintenance, cost and need for
complementary protective measures. When interviewed in two different residential jobs and
asked about which of the EPCs the workers felt most protected 95% said it was the floor-to floor netting on residential job “1” and 50% on residential job “2”. With regard to exposure to
the risk of falling, 90% said it was the guardrail in residential job “1” and 87.5% in residential
job “2”. In the interview with the general workers in construction, that do not work directly with
this equipments, 100% of the interviewees stated that workers feel safer with the floor-to-floor
network installed in both residential jobs. When the EPCs are compared to each other, from
the perspective of workers that work directly and indirectly with this equipments, it can be
concluded that the floor-to-floor network is a collective protection measure with less risk
exposure, less installation deviation, innovative, reliable and safe.

Title: Análise dos modos de falha e efeitos (FMEA) na avaliação dos riscos à saúde e segurança do processo de formação de biscoitos laminados
Authors: Malta, André de Almeida Pereira
Abstract: The study aimed to perform a health and safety risks assessment in the operation and
cleaning activities of a manufacturing machine commonly used in the process of forming
laminated biscuits, using the FMEA methodology, in view of the high accident statistics
involving this type of machines. In addition, it proposed to discover the tasks and modes of
failure with greater risks associated with those activities. In the operation, 25% of the tasks
were classified with a serious risk degree and 75% with a slight degree of risk. As for cleaning
and sanitation, 33.33% of them were classified as serious risk, 25% as moderate and 41.67%
as slight. The failure modes with higher Risk Priority Number (RPN) of this process were the
disruption of the load lifting strap and the non-compliance with the operational procedure.
