Authors: Araújo, Helen Rodrigues
Abstract: The constant search for profitability and survival in the market, has become the goal
of any organization currently. In this scenario, it is imperative for companies to take
actions that allow the efficient cost control. This study aims to present forms of
control and estimation of costs relating to welding activities from the weld length
produced at each event for maintenance. For this, a methodology that provides
guidelines for the calculation of costs related to welding operations is presented as
well as being presented the case study where are applied the guidelines proposed by
the method. By analyzing the results of the study the effectiveness of the
methodology was verified, as this allowed an improvement in the estimation of
welding-related costs, and facilitates the visualization process to improve
opportunities for being able to stratify the contributions of each plot the final cost.2016-02-25T00:00:00ZAvaliação do desempenho de tubos soldados de AL-MN AA3003 em condições de serviço com ácido nítricoCampos, Rodolfo Heitorhttp://repositoriosenaiba.fieb.org.br/handle/fieb/13722024-02-19T23:07:25Z2015-04-07T00:00:00ZTitle: Avaliação do desempenho de tubos soldados de AL-MN AA3003 em condições de serviço com ácido nítrico

Abstract: Aluminium AA3003 alloy shows a reasonable corrosion resistance to concentrated
nitric acid (HNO3). However, welded pipe sections exhibit a located corrosion
phenomenon in the region of the weld bead. This work aims to make a reading of the
main concepts involving aluminum welding and associated corrosion when subjected
to hum nitric acid medium, talking briefly about some representative papers on the
subject and about care and difficulties concerning this type of welding. In addition, a
weld of 3003 alloy aluminum tubes is held, of which specimen were extracted in
order to be subjected to accelerated corrosion testing in agreement with ASTM G67.
Finally, the work aims to analyze the causes of corrosion problems found in these

Abstract: This job contains a bibliographic review of subjects as nucleation in the welding
process, grain refinement and mechanical properties and grain refinement
techniques in welding in order to endorse and justify the accomplishment of the
experimental procedure. For the evaluation of the results obtained with this
experimental procedure, there were one metallographic analysis, stress tests to
break, and handmade folding until the break, where there have been changes in the
weld bead profile and FA aims to evaluate the microstructure of the fused area (FA)
of a weld bead deposited on carbon steel sheet AISI 1020, applying known frequency
of the mechanical vibration levels in the system at the time of welding in order to
refine the grains of FA. Its practical application in industry to reduce costs and

Abstract: This work aims to characterize the HAZ coils Half-Pipes Jackets type in process
equipment to the joints of the top type (vertical position) and fillet (horizontal and over head position). This need of characterization was due to the lack of detailed knowledge
about failures observed in vessels with such a constructive arrangement, making
remedial activities a sequence of actions with little theoretical basis to make the most
efficient intervention. It was performed three specimens containing each type of joint
and welding position of interest in order to identify the characteristics separately for
each of the HAZ in welding position TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas). The bevels settings
used were equivalent to the settings found in existing process equipment in chemical
plants. The bodies of the test piece consisted of plates of ASME SA-516M Grade 415
and pipe ASME SA-106M Grade B, both of low-carbon steels, an arrangement that
simulated the welding conditions of a coil type Half-Jackets pipes with pipes and plates
in thicknesses equivalent settings and the actual equipment. The welding followed
WPS qualified in accordance with ASME Section VIII Division 1 and ASME Section IX,
and qualified welder in accordance with ASME Section IX. The parameters were
monitored and maintained within the ranges established by WPS. It was found that the
HAZ of the tube butt joints mean area greater than the mean area of the HAZ tube for
fillet joints, despite having lower average Heat input. The measured hardness values
remained below the reference value adopted. Under the statistical perspective, the
average hardness of the HAZ face values above the mean values measured in the root
ZTA. Analyzing the relationship of hardness between the fillet joints, comparing each
other regions equivalent to the horizontal position and over-head, the average
hardness found to horizontal position (Heat input lower) were higher than the average
hardness found to stand on over-head (Heat input higher). The microstructures found
showed no difference than was predicted by the literature.2015-07-29T00:00:00Z
